Hi, I’m Bob Murr. I grew up the third child in a family of six in Broomall, Pennsylvania. I had a great childhood with a family who loved to laugh and experience new things. Like most families in the 60’s and 70’s, our family was actively involved in our local church. During my school years, I enjoyed playing soccer, and after high school I got very involved in long distance running. I completed several marathons, including my dream of running the Boston marathon in 2002. I was, and still am, a fan of all the Philadelphia sports teams (especially the Phillies and the Eagles). After high school, I attended Shippensburg University and graduated with a Communications Degree (Radio & TV).
After working a number of restaurant jobs, I landed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1982, working for a radio station doing news and sports. While I was settling in there, I was approached one night by a man on the street who questioned whether or not I really knew Jesus as my savior. I thought I was “in” because I had attended church and “done” all the right things, but this conversation kind of troubled me and made me think. I soon realized that I had known about Jesus all my life, but that I was really only living for me, and didn’t really know Jesus personally. My decision to get to know Jesus better set me on a path of exciting adventures I could never have imagined. I have backpacked across Pennsylvania, spent three years at Asbury Seminary in Kentucky, and even did a summer as assistant camp director of a kids’ camp. (Oh, and I have been a pastor since 1992.)
In 1985, I married Lois and since then we have continued seeking together what it is Jesus wants us to do with our lives. We are blessed to be the parents of two adult sons in their early 20’s. I still love sports (even when the Eagles and Phillies are terrible). I would love to get to know you over a cup of coffee or lunch.
